How to Get Factory Key Code with Xhorse Dolphin XP005L?

One customer gave feedback that he could get the bitting from the key by decoding with Xhorse Dolphin XP005L key cutting machine, but he didn’t know how to obtain the actual factory key code for a key once decoded by the machine. This problem has been resolved now. If you have the same problem, follow the solution below to do.

The solution:

I do this for about every vehicle key that I duplicate… I NEVER use universal duplicate.

I want to apologize because I use the phone app on my original Dolphin and this is how it tells me the code.

First you look up the vehicle under ‘Vehicle Database’. You’ll put the customer’s key into the vise, click ‘Decode Key’ and then you’ll have the cuts. Next you will click ‘Find Bitting’.

I think that is where most people get it wrong. This will give you the factory key code.

I’ve only had an issue on some GM vehicle because the code series will cross years and it might be looking in the wrong code series for some odd reason.

And Hyundaid/Kia has been wrong in some situations and then that’s when I’ll look up the cuts into code on g-code online or something like that.

I think it might be a USA problem.

I myself fill out a code card for lots of customers and this helps when they’re repeat in the future and what nots.
